About

Blending heartfelt, confessional lyrics with intimate instrumentation, Claire Conway is a songwriter and storyteller with an ear for authenticity. With a wise-beyond-her years level of poise and introspection that draws comparisons to contemporary folk-minded songwriters like Leith Ross and Eliza McLamb, Claire draws listeners in with hushed guitar melodies, warm vocals, and compelling lyrical meditations on the birth and death of love, growing up, and self-discovery.
Raised on country radio in Charleston, South Carolina, Claire began writing music at ten years old, played her first gig at thirteen, and released her first EP while still in high school. Now residing in the Pacific Northwest, she’s shared local stages with artists like Lowland Hum, Matt the Electrician, and The Head and the Heart’s Josiah Johnson. Claire takes inspiration from her community of fellow songwriters. A background in creative writing also informs her music, and her proclivity for poetry is evident in standouts like the gleaming, pensive “No Saints” on her 2019 EP “Missing,” a cathartic reflection on a relationship’s end and moving away from home.
Recorded in a LA apartment in the midst of the pandemic, 2021’s collection “Be Good” exhibits a clear-eyed intimacy, exploring personal yet universal themes of growth, love, and isolation with Claire’s trademark candor. Tracks like “I Don’t Wanna Be Alone” and “Be Good” highlight her progression as an artist, lyrically navigating the intricacies of coming of age and finding her place in the world.
Currently, Claire is hard at work recording her first full-length album. In the meantime, she’s touring regularly in the PNW and beyond.
